A Proposed Preventive Program From The Perspective Of Generalist Practice Of Social Work To Raise Awareness Among University Students About The Dangers Of Online Gambling.

Abstract

With the advancement of technology and the spread of digital platforms, online gambling has become a phenomenon that has gained popularity and spread among young people in general and university students in particular, This is due to the ease of access to digital platforms and the youth's ambition for quick and easy gains without realizing the risks involved Therefore, the study aimed to reach a proposed preventive program from the perspective of generalist practice of social work to raise awareness among university youth about the dangers of electronic gambling. The study relied on the method of social survey with a sample of university youth at Aswan University, where their number reached (379) male and female students, The study tool was represented by the “risks of online gambling on university youth” scale. The study concluded that the level of risks of electronic gambling on university youth is high, reaching an average of (2.56), where the average of social risks reached (2.48), which is a high average, while the average of economic risks reached (2.61), which is a high average, and the average of academic risks reached (2.60), which is also high average. The study concluded with the development of a proposed preventative program to raise awareness among university students about the dangers of online gambling, Online gambling is a threat to young people if it is not addressed and overcome.
