Stressful life events and their relationship to secondary school students’ professional future anxiety "A comparative study between high school students and technical high school students"

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the nature of the relationship between stressful life events and future career anxiety for general and technical secondary school students, test the differences between them, and determine the dimensions of stressful life events and future career anxiety.The study concepts were defined as (stressful life events, future career anxiety).It is adescriptive study based on the social survey method with arandom sample. It assumes the existence of a statistically significant positive correlation between stressful life events and future career anxiety for general and technical secondary school students, and the absence of statistically significant differences between the average scores of general and technical secondary school students on the stressful life events and future career anxiety scales.The study tools were determined in the stressful life events scale and the future career anxiety scale. It was applied to(240)items from general and technical secondary school students in three schools in Giza,and it was concluded that the level of stressful life events and the level of anxiety about the professional future were average in the study sample.It was also concluded that there was a statistically significant positive correlation between stressful life events and anxiety about the professional future for general and technical secondary school students at a significance level of (0.01).There were no statistically significant differences between the average scores of general and technical secondary school students on the stressful life events and career anxiety scales.
