Non-compliant behavior and its relationship to self-efficacy among a sample of academically struggling middle school students

Abstract

The study aimed to determining the relationship between maladaptive behavior and self-efficacy among students who are struggling academically, and to determine the differences between the average grades of males and females in the study sample for both self-efficacy and maladaptive behavior. The research sample consisted of (103 students), 50 males - 53 females, and their ages ranged from Between 12-14 years of age, male and female middle school students, and the study tools were the self-efficacy scale (prepared by the researcher), and the non-consensual behavior scale (prepared by the researcher) The results found a negative and statistically significant correlation between the self-efficacy scores (dimensions and total score) and the non-compliant behavior scores (dimensions and total score) among male and female students in the middle school who are struggling academically. They also found that there are fundamental differences that are statistically significant at a significant level (0.01(between the average scores of both males and females on the non-consensual behavior scale in favor of males The current study also found indicators of the role of the social worker to alleviate non-compliant behavior and raise the level of self-efficacy among students in light of cognitive-behavioral therapy
