Abstract

The study has aimed to identify the role of environmental planning in promoting the circular economy as a strategic approach to confront environmental risks. It also relied on the case study approach by applying it to local units and councils in Faiyum Governorate. It was applied to a sample of (210) individuals. According to the study's findings, employees in the environmental sector do not see the circular economy as important, legislative policies are unclear, institutions that implement circular economy practices have little material incentive, and the infrastructure needed to support recycling operations is inadequate. Therefore, the current study attempted to develop a proposed plan for the transition to a circular economy as a strategic approach to confront environmental risks. The plan's elements are summarized in analyzing the current situation, evaluating the current and available resources in the community, setting goals by achieving zero waste, increasing the efficiency of resource use, encouraging recycling and reuse, as well as setting new policies and legislation, encouraging green investment, awareness and education. This will be accomplished through awareness campaigns and educational initiatives.
