Abstract

The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a cognitive-behavioral therapy program in enhancing the social competence of individuals with schizophrenia. A professional intervention program was designed using cognitive-behavioral therapy to improve the social competence of schizophrenia patients. The researchers employed a social competence scale and adopted an experimental approach. A total of 30 patients were recruited from Al-Tariq Hospital for Psychiatric and Addiction Treatment during the period from June 15, 2023, to August 15, 2023. Ten cases were excluded based on sample criteria, leaving 20 cases. These participants were randomly and equally divided into two groups: an experimental group (n=10) and a control group (n=10). The study's results revealed the effectiveness of the professional intervention program in enhancing the social competence of the sample of schizophrenia patientsSchizophrenia is one of the most widespread and complex mental illnesses, which greatly affects the lives of individuals who suffer from it. One of the main challenges facing these patients is their poor social competence, which negatively affects the quality of their daily life and their ability to interact properly socially. The resulting social and psychological problems related to the patient himself and those around him.
