Abstract

The family is the basic and main social structure in society, so the marital relationship between a man and a woman is one of the most important human relationships to form a sound family structure , Marriage may face problems, especially in its early stages, due to the spouses’ lack of experience in married life, and the pride of each of them in his personality, his insistence on his position, and his obstinacy in his behavior , The causal attribution is one of the modern concepts that are based on the basis that individuals understand their surroundings and evaluate it on the basis of what they consider to be the cause of a phenomenon and consider it as a result of it, Individuals monitor their behavior in an attempt to know its causes, then they shape their future behavior accordingly, Therefore, the causal interpretation of the individual is more useful than focusing on the characteristics, that is, the individual's awareness and identification of the reasons for his success and failure acts as a motive for his behavior, In light of this, the current study aimed to determine the relationship between causal attribution and marital distress for newly married couples, The results of the current study concluded that there is a direct, influencing, statistically significant relationship between causal attribution and marital distress for newly married couples.
