Determining the social welfare needs of street vendors and a proposed program in context of community organization method to satisfy them

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the level of social welfare needs of street vendors, the most important problems they face, and to develop a proposed program in context of community organization method to satisfy those needs. It is considered one of the descriptive studies that relied on the comprehensive social survey approach of street vendors around Helwan University, who numbered (70) street vendors. The study used a questionnaire to determine the needs and problems of street vendors. The results of study indicated that the level of health, social and economic needs of street vendors is medium, while the level of psychological needs of street vendors is high. The study also developed a proposed program in context of community organization method to satisfy the needs of street vendors located around Helwan University. The program included a set of goals, directives, strategies and techniques. The program also identified the participating parties, the most important tools on which it relies, and the roles of the social organizer.
